Well, hey there!
Allow me to welcome you to Happy at Home! I’m Jenna, and here’s the deal:
I’m fascinated by the power of home to influence how we show up in the world.
I’m obsessed with the quest for happiness and living a meaningful life.
I’m passionate about each individual’s right to choose their own path, write their own definitions, and contribute to the good of humankind in their own unique way.
And I’m downright evangelical about the power of decluttering to help us rediscover who we are and reconnect with ourselves at the deepest level.
I also really like cats, talking out loud to myself (even in public), and checking out more library books at a time than I can ever hope to read.
What you can expect from me is an exploration of the relationship between our homes, our identities, and how we show up in the world. I’m driven by the belief that getting our literal and metaphorical house in order allows us to live as our highest and best selves by finding clarity, fostering intention, and contributing our unique gifts to the world.
We are built to grow, give, and feel damn good: Happiness is our birthright, and it is our duty to get our shit together so we can give freely and generously in a way that is deeply fulfilling to us and massively valuable to others. This not only impacts the world for the better, but it also makes us meaningfully happy (like, gut-bursting, toe-tingling, heart-exploding happy).
In my weekly articles, I cover these themes in different ways — from the practical to the philosophical (I’ll go ahead and issue a major #nerdalert right here):
- Because decluttering my home was basically the key that turned my life from uuuugh whyyyy to OH HELL YES, I write a whole lot about the decluttering process — from the why’s to the how’s to the but-what-about’s.
- I’m also more-than-a-little interested in the psychology of human behavior: the why-we-do-the-crazy-shit-we-do (and how we can harness our nature to do better).
- Finally, the quest for happiness — which I define as the freedom and ability to know and express yourself unapologetically while contributing to the happiness of others — is a topic that makes frequent appearances.
- (Also, some interior design, home management, and productivity may pop up from time to time, just for good measure.)
In short, Happy at Home exists to explore the connection between happiness, contribution, and the thing we call home. I aim to educate, inspire, empower, and never, ever, ever stop learning.
So join me, won’t you, on the journey to Come Home to Yourself.
